Southwest Minnesota Orchestra Concert
Sunday, October 1, 2017

2 p.m. in the Schwan Community Center for the Performing Arts at Marshall High School

part of the SMSU Homecoming celebration and 50th anniversary festivities

All-American program featuring music of Copeland, Robert Whitcomb, Peter Lothringer, George Gerschwin, and John Williams

Aaron Copland, “Old American Songs”
featuring Ryan Hugh Ross, SMSU Class of 2008 and 2017 Graduate of the Last Decade (GOLD) Award recipient

Robert Butler Whitcomb, “Ear Abounding,” music to poetry by Phil Dacey

Peter Lothringer, “A New Time to Sing,” choral fanfare on poetry of Walt Whitman

John Williams (featuring music from “Star Wars”, “E.T.”, and others)

featuring the SMSU Chorale, Dr. Stephen Kingsbury, conductor

 AND George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue,” Dr. John Ginocchio, conductor with Dr. Rieppel as soloist.

 Tickets at the door: Adults $12.00, Students/kids $5.00, Family rate $25.00, Students with a SMSU ID free.
