Southwest Minnesota State students taking courses within this department are able to major and minor in a variety of areas.

Students may complete a major/minor in Spanish and a Spanish Education major for K-12 Teachers of World Languages and Culture.
Note: The Spanish Major and Spanish Teaching Major are currently suspended and under review. No new students may major in Spanish. The Spanish Minor, however, is still available.

A minor is available in French.

Students may complete a major/minor in Philosophy.  The Pre-Law minor is housed within the Philosophy program.

Humanities offers a set of Liberal Education courses exploring the human experience.
