  • Core/Cardio & Stability

This class is a 30 minute class aimed at strengthening the abdominals, gluteals, hamstrings and quads with emphasis on proper posture and technique to effectively engage your core muscles. Interval training is incorporated to make this a cardiovascular class as well. Wear comfortable exercise clothing, good workout shoes and be prepared to perspire a bit!

Offered Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:15 - 12:45 pm. Cost for this class is $50.
*Classes begin Monday, January 8th for Spring Semeseter, 2018

Instructor: Kris Cleveland,PT, DPT

Class location: SS 145 - SMSU Dance Studio (Next to the Exercise Science Wellness and Human Performance Fitness Center).

Cancellations will be posted outside the fitness center if necessary or by email.

 

  • Fitness Training Sessions

Individual training sessions will be provided by Exercise Science student trainers. Trainers will teach you proper form and performance of exercise and help you progress in your fitness goals.

Training sessions are scheduled by availability of trainers. Cost for sessions is $12 per session (individual), $10 per session (group of 1-2).

  • Fitness Testing

This is a battery of tests to determine your fitness level. Testing includes vital signs, body fat percentage via skinfold testing, tests of endurance, strength and balance.

Testing sessions are scheduled by availability of trainers. Cost for testing is $25.

Instructor: Exercise Science students (under the direction of Kris Cleveland, PT, DPT)

Class location: PE 211 - Exercise Science Lab. Testing will begin in September.

  • Resting Metabolic Rate Testing

The RMR test is a 10-minute test to determine caloric needs at rest. This information can be used to determine how many calories your body needs to help you lose weight and achieve your fitness goals.

Testing sessions are scheduled by availability of trainers. Cost for testing is $50.

Instructor: Exercise Science students (under the direction of Kris Cleveland, PT, DPT)

Class location: PE 211 - Exercise Science Lab. Testing will begin in September.

  • Sub VO2 Max Testing

VO2 Max is the maximum rate of oxygen consumption as measured during incremental exercise. Maximal oxygen consumption reflects the aerobic physical fitness of an individual, and is an important determination of their endurance capacity during prolonged, sub-maximal exercise. This test will determine your VO2 Max in a non-maximal procedure. The test requires walking or running on treadmill or using an exercise bike.

Testing sessions are scheduled by availability of trainers. Cost for testing is $50.

Instructor: Jeff Bell, PhD, with assistance from Exercise Science students

Class location: PE 211 - Exercise Science Lab. Testing will begin in September.

  • VO2 Max Testing

VO2 Max is the maximum rate of oxygen consumption as measured during incremental exercise. Maximal oxygen consumption reflects the aerobic physical fitness of an individual, and is an important determination of their endurance capacity during prolonged, sub-maximal exercise. This is a Maximal Test of oxygen consumption. This test takes approximately 30-45 minutes to administer and results are calculated and sent to you. The test requires walking or running on treadmill or using an exercise bike.

Testing sessions are scheduled by availability of trainers. Cost for testing is $75.

Instructor: Jeff Bell, PhD, with assistance from Exercise Science students

Class location: PE 211 - Exercise Science Lab. Testing will begin in September.
