- During the first semester, each student works individually with the Honors Program Director on designing their own program of study. Once a proposal is developed, the student then meets with a Review Board of representative faculty. The Board reserves the right to recommend changes in light of its directive from the faculty to guarantee depth and breadth in these programs of study.
- The program is intended to provide an education with a broad foundation that also fulfills the needs of the gifted student. The Board will seek to strike a balance between what the student perceives to be their needs and what the Board perceives to be those needs.
- A great deal of thought and consideration goes into the planning of the program. It is intended to give students an opportunity to pave an individual path of study for their own college career. The Board will respect the student's right to defend their proposal and is always attentive to the student's concerns. As a rule, proposed programs are altered very little.
- Students usually complete the approval process within their first year.
