Marketing Opportunities

Southwest Marketing Advisory Center

 

SMACMarketing majors have the opportunity to be an employee of the Southwest Marketing Advisory Center (SMAC), an organization that pursues actual marketing research projects for various local government and commercial organizations.  Selected students are paid at an hourly rate of $10.00 per hour and have the opportunity to manage and coordinate projects with various entities.  The center has been a major force in Southwest Minnesota in promoting marketing principles and research by offering these services to commercial, government, and civic organizations.  Scholarships funds are also available for students employed in SMAC. 

 

Southwest Association of Graphic Arts

 

SAGAA number of marketing majors also decide to major or minor in the art program at SMSU, particularly in graphic design. SMSU offers design students the opportunity to be involved in the Southwest Association of Graphic Arts (SAGA). This organization has employees from the design, marketing, and computer science programs. SAGA gives students a real-world perspective when it comes to design, including client meetings, weekly group critiques, and a chance to upgrade your portfolio with actual jobs. It is student-run and faculty-advised, providing valuable experience and top quality design opportunities, including web, identity, print and multimedia design.
