Inauguration Week: Monday, April 7 - Sunday, April 13, 2014.

A number of events are planned throughout the week, from the Fine Arts Celebration to "Southwest Serves" events.


Monday, April 7

James and Marianne Zarzana: Selected Readings, Whipple Gallery, 12:30-1:30 p.m.

5th Annual Fashion Runway, Theatre Lobby, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Tuesday, April 8

Student Academy Awards Screening, Fine Arts Theatre, 6-7:30 p.m.

Thursday, April 10

Faculty Art Exhibit Reception, Whipple Gallery, 12-1 p.m.

Friday, April 11

Southwest Serves

The Center for Civic Engagement helped to coordinate events sponsored by a variety of student clubs and community organizations. The events this week highlight the importance of service & engagement in our campus community.

Monday, April 7-Friday April 11:
Food Drive for the local food shelf
Collection bins are located in the Student Center,
BA/CH Link, and each of the campus Residence Halls.

Tuesday, April 8:
Kids Against Hunger: Meal Packaging Event
SC/RA Link in Student Center,
10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Come and go event!

TED Talk: Hunger Awareness Film
SC Movie Theater, 7 p.m. Free snacks!

Wednesday, April 9:
Volunteer/Service Learning Fair
Student Center Upper Level, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Stop by and check out the many opportunities
available on campus and in the community!

Thursday, April 10:
Community Litter Cleanup Event
at the Lot next to Pizza Ranch & Menards, 3-5 p.m.
with free buffet at Pizza Ranch to follow.
Co-sponsored by SMSU Civic Engagement and Marshall GreenStep.

Participants should wear close-toed shoes and weather-appropriate clothing.
From campus: depart at 2:50 p.m. on MAT Blue Route, return on MAT Red Route.
(In case of inclement weather, the event will be held Tuesday, April 15 at 3 p.m.)


SMSU Theatre Program's Main Stage Production: The Heiress

The Heiress will be performed Friday, April 11 and Saturday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. A matinee will be performed on Sunday, April 13 at 2 p.m. Dinner theatre will be held on Saturday, April 12 with seating from 5:45-6:15 p.m.  Advance tickets recommended for the play and required for dinner theatre:  (The Heiress will also be performed the weekend of April 3-5.)
