Continuing Aid Applicant

We request that you use your SMSU e-mail address on all Financial Aid Applications.

1. FSA ID
Starting in May of 2015 the U.S. Department of Education has replaced the Federal Student aid PIN with an "FSA ID".  If you have not already done so you will need to create a FSA ID to utilize when logging into Federal Aid websites. (including fafsa.gov).  To set up your FSA ID go to: fsaid.ed.gov

Please Note: Parents of dependent applicants will also need an FSA ID to sign the FAFSA application.

2. Complete the FAFSA

Complete the FAFSA – Free Application for Federal Student Aid.You can access the FAFSA and the pre-application worksheet at www.fafsa.gov   By processing the FAFSA electronically, you expedite the process and eliminate errors. Use your  Federal Income Tax Returns for the appropriate year and your FSA ID as your electronic signature.

3. Additional Documents

If we need any additional information to process your application we will contact you.  You may check the status of your application through the SMSU website via e-services.
