Rural Population and Land Use Trends in Southwest Minnesota, 1870-2000
Geoff Cunfer, associate professor of Rural and Regional Studies, addressed the Minnesota Population Center at the University of Minnesota on Monday, April 7, 2003. The lecture was at noon in Heller Hall at the University's Minneapolis campus. Professor Cunfer's talk was entitled "Rural Population and Land Use Trends in Southwest Minnesota, 1870-2000." It described a region that has declined in population by 15% since 1940, but which stabilized in the 1990s. Land use, on the other hand, has changed little since the 1930s.
