Open Mic March 26 at Daily Grind

Southwest Minnesota State University’s English Club will host the “Best of” SMSU Creative Writers Open Mic at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 26 at the Daily Grind of Marshall.

Open Mic will feature the “Best of” SMSU Creative Writers’ work, including short stories and poems.

SMSU students participating include Jess Rockeman, a junior majoring in Creative Writing; Dani Crowell, a junior majoring in Creative Writing; Jon Heimer, a junior majoring in Professional Writing and Communication and Creative Writing; and Melissa Peterson, a senior majoring in Creative Writing. Other SMSU students may be featured, as well.

This will be the second English Club reading this semester at the renovated Daily Grind. “It’s a terrific off-campus venue for these types of readings. At the last reading, it was standing room only with 42 people attending. People need to come early if they want a seat,” said English Club advisor Marianne Zarzana.

The Daily Grind is located at 316 W. Main Street in Marshall.
