Agriculture Career Fair Nov. 4

Published Tuesday, October 20, 2015

The third annual Agriculture Career Fair will be held from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4 in the Conference Center Ballroom on the campus of Southwest Minnesota State University.

Approximately 30 ag-related businesses will attend the fair to discuss job and internship opportunities, said Gary Gillin, interim Director of Career Services.

“Last year was the second year we’ve held this event and it was well received,” said Gillin. “It is a good opportunity for students to meet with employers about full-time jobs and internships.”

SMSU has expanded its ag-related majors in recent years. Majors in Agronomy, Agribusiness Management, Agricultural Solutions, Agriculture, Agricultural Education and Agricultural Communications and Leadership are now being offered at SMSU.

“We’ve been hearing from multiple employers from across the state seeking interns and also looking to interview students for full-time employment,” said Gillin.

“The college fair is open to all majors, as well, because employers are looking for a broader set of skills such as marketing, communications or accounting.”

Students and alumni from SMSU are invited to the event, as well as students from other two- and four-year institutions within the region.

Those wishing to attend the Agriculture Career Fair are asked to register by calling 507-537-6221 or by e-mailing Careers@smsu.edu. You may also pre-register in the Career Services Office located in the lower Bellows Academic building.

Registration forms can be found on the Career Services web site.
