‘Leaves of Grass, Illuminated’ Moved to May 2

Posted from Tuesday, April 09, 2019 through Wednesday, May 01, 2019

Southwest Minnesota State University will present “Leaves of Grass, Illuminated” with Patrick Scully on Thursday, May 2 at 7 p.m. in Charter Hall 201 on campus.

The event was originally scheduled for April 10, but was moved due to the impending storm.

Walt Whitman is considered to be America’s great poet, but his poetry collection “Leaves of Grass” was controversial for its time. Scully will be portraying Whitman in a one-man show.

Scully has many years of experience in performance art and theatre. He first performed in the Walker Choreographer’s Evening in 1972. He co-founded Contactworks in Minneapolis in 1976, a dance collective that used contact improvisation as its core vocabulary.

This event is part of the Fine Arts Celebration and is free and open to the public.
