Master of Science in Education (MS)

About the Program

The Master of Science in Education is available as a fully online program. There are six emphasis area students can choose from:

Teaching, Learning, and Leadership
Reading
English
Mathematics
Teaching English as a Second Language
Technology for Training and Learning

The National Board of Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) are competencies embedded in the curriculum of this program of study. Participants will build knowledge in subject matter, instructional practices, and the learning/teaching process. Participants will integrate current research into effective practices and develop the leadership capacities necessary to implement effective educational practices in local settings.

Graduate Tuition rates at SMSU are AFFORDABLE!
SMSU offers in-state tuition to nearly everyone. No out state rates! Reciprocity rates may apply.
U.S. Citizens and eligible noncitizens can apply for Federal Aid with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Also, don’t forget to check out the different Scholarship opportunities available for graduate students.

You are required to have a 3.0 GPA for admission into the program. If your GPA is under the requirement, you may still qualify for provisional admission through demonstrating your skills and abilities within your application. Provisional admission does require students to attain a 3.0 GPA in their first semester.
