Faculty Spotlight: Dr. Joyce Hyunjoo Hwang

Prior to joining the faculty at Southwest Minnesota State University, Dr. Joyce Hyunjoo Hwang taught at various institutions, including the University of Hawaii and North Dakota State University. She has taught courses in Food Service Management, Menu Design, Cost Control, and more.

Her research interest is related to food service operations, such as operational efficiency, cultural influence in food service, and food safety. She has been published in several journals, including the Journal of Hospitality Research, the International Journal of Hospitality Management, and the Journal of Teaching in Travel and Tourism. She is also a certified ServSafe instructor and proctor.

Dr. Hwang is a member of the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (ICHRIE). Additionally, she serves as a reviewer for the ICHRIE annual conference-refereed track, the Asia Pacific Tourism Association (APTA) Conference, and the journal of the Korean Academic Society of Hospitality Administration (KASHA).
