He has a broad background in grant writing and fundraising, and has been active in professional, academic and community service throughout his career.

“I am very excited to come to Marshall to make it my professional and personal home, and I’m excited for the opportunity to work at SMSU because I believe it is an institution that focuses on connecting with learners. As a former teacher, that is something I’ve built my career on,” said Watson.

“I really look forward to having Dr. Watson join the university in this important leadership role,” said President Connie J. Gores. “Dr. Watson is committed to building partnerships both on campus and off, and his commitment to academic excellence and student learning and success will help move the university forward in a positive direction. I am delighted that he is joining the SMSU family.”
