1. How do I register Online?

To register for your class you will need to follow one of the two options:

Option 1:

 

  • Click on www.smsu.edu
  • Go under Quick Links
  • Click on E-Services 
  • To  Login, enter your Mustang ID
  • Enter your Pin/Password
  • Click on Courses & Registration
  • Click on Find a Course
  • Choose a semester
  • Choose a subject
  • Click “Find Courses” button
  • Click "Add to Plan" button
  • Check all the classes you would like to register for
  • Click "Register for Checked Courses" button
  • Enter your Access code
  • Click on "Register for These Courses".

 

OR


Option 2:

  • Click on Quick Register instead of Search for Open Section
  • Enter course id number (it is different from class number)
  • Click “register now”
  • Enter Access code
  • Click on "Register for These Courses"

 

 

 

 

 

2. How do I make sure I have registered for classes?

If you want to see if you have successfully registered for your classes you need to follow one of these options:

  • Click on QuickLinks
  • Click on E-Services
  • Enter your Mustang ID number
  • Enter your Pin/Password
  • Click on Courses & Registration
  • Click on Registration Log


Option 2:

  • Click on www.smsu.edu
  • Click on QuickLinks
  • Click on E-Services
  • Enter your Mustang ID number
  • Enter your Pin/Password
  • Click on Courses & Registration
  • Click on View/Modify Class Schedule

 


3. What if I have a HOLD on my registration?

If you have a hold on your registration you will need to see what department the hold is from. To find out where your hold is from follow these steps:

  • Click on www.smsu.edu
  • Click on QuickLinks
  • Click on E-Services
  • Enter your Mustang ID number
  • Enter your Pin/Password
  • Click on Courses & Registration
  • Click on Check Registration Holds

 

 

4. How do I get my books?

You can access the list of courses text requirements at SMSU’s Barnes and Nobles Campus Store or by stopping by Barnes and Nobles located in the Student Center building. The bookstore telephone number is 507-537-1450. You may purchase your texts online at the campus bookstore, through www.amazon.com, www.half.com, or any other bookstore of your choice.


 

5. How do I receive financial aid?

Financial aid is available to students who need it. You can find information on applying for financial aid at the SMSU Financial Aid website. You can reach the financial aid office by email at kerri.roeller@smsu.edu or by phone at 507-537-6281.


 

6. How do I pay my tuition bill online?

If you would like to pay your tuition bill online follow these steps:

  • Click on www.smsu.edu
  • Click on QuickLinks
  • Click on E-Services Login
  • Enter your Mustang ID
  • Enter your Pin/Password
  • Click on Click on Bills and Payment
  • Click on Make a Payment
  • Click on Institution


 

7. How do I access my SMSU web mail/e-mail?

Follow these steps to access your SMSU e-mail account:

  • Click on www.smsu.edu/
  • Click on the Envelope icon
  • Click on Student Webmail
  • Enter your Username: It is everything BEFORE the @ sign of your SMSU e-mail account.
  • Password: Mustang/tech. ID


*If you don’t know your SMSU Email Account for SMSU Web Mail, try the following:

  • Click on www.smsu.edu
  • Click on QuickLinks
  • Click on Technology Resources
  • Click on Student Assistance
  • Click on SMSU Outlook Email

***You will need to check your SMSU email for communications from financial aid, resources from the library, and correspondence from your instructors regarding course and text information.


 

 

8. How do I change my pin/password?

If you would like to change your SMSU pin/password, you will need to follow these steps:

  • Click on www.smsu.edu
  • Click on QuickLinks
  • Click on E-Services
  • Enter your Mustang ID number
  • Enter your Pin/Password
  • Click on Account Management
  • Click on "Change Pin"

 

 

 

9. How do I access D2L Brightspace?

  • Click on www.smsu.edu/
  • Click on QuickLinks
  • Click on D2L Brightspace
  • Enter your username (which is your Mustang/tech. ID)      Password: Birth date (YYMMDD) or the last 6 digits of your Social  Security number.

 

 

 

10. How do I access the Library and Extended Learning Resources?


PATHWAY: www.smsu.edu/library

Extended learning students are sent (via U.S. Mail) an Admission to SMSU letter that includes the barcode for online and on-campus library access. Extended learning students may take a photo at SMSU if they want a photo Identification card. Extended learning students have all library privileges, including Interlibrary Loan, access to e-journals, and database access. There is no shipping charge for extended learning students.

 

 

11. How do I check my grades?

To check your grades online you will need to follow these steps:

  • Click on www.smsu.edu
  • Click on QuickLinks
  • Click on E-Services
  • Enter your Mustang ID number
  • Enter your Pin/Password
  • Click on Grades and Transcripts
  • Click on Check Grades
  • Choose a semester

 

 

12. How do I get an unofficial transcript?

To view or print an unofficial transcript, follow these steps:

  • Click on www.smsu.edu
  • Click on QuickLinks
  • Click on E-Services Login
  • Enter your Mustang ID
  • Enter your Pin/Password
  • Click on Grades and Transcripts
  • Click on Academic Record

 

 

13. What is DARS?

DARS is an acronym for Degree Audit Report. Your DARS is a way to keep track of all the classes you have either transferred into SMSU or taken at SMSU. It will allow you to choose the correct classes to graduate with your major/minor.

To locate your DARS report, you will need to follow these steps:

  • Click on www.smsu.edu
  • Click on QuickLinks
  • Click on E-Services
  • Enter your Mustang ID
  • Enter your Pin/Password
  • Click on Student Tab
  • Click on Degree Audit Report (DARS)
