The Creative Writing Program balances writing practice and literary study in the context of a liberal arts education.

Students work closely with our faculty of published writers and often have the opportunity to work with writers who visit the campus as part of our reading series.

The flexibility of the program allows students to choose courses which suit their needs, goals, and interests. Specific courses will be chosen with the advice and approval of their advisors and the Director of Creative Writing.

No courses with “D” grades will count toward the major. A GPA of 2.5 must be maintained in major courses. Majors should choose A–F grading option for major courses, except for Senior Portfolio, which is credit/no credit.

Additional information regarding suggestions and recommendations are available in the English office in BA 221.
