Fun Facts

Every class at SMSU is taught by a professor-not teaching assistants!

SMSU offers students the opportunity to participate in a variety of intramural sports.  Students can play traditional sports such as basketball, soccer, or volleyball--or try a slightly more unique sport such as frisbee golf, racquetball, wallyball, or whiffleball!

SMSU also offers club sports such as billiards, rugby, and Tae Kwon Do.  The Dance Team and the Showstoppers (a hip-hop/step dance team) often perform at sporting events.

SMSU has an intensively active student community. With over 100 clubs, organizations, and leadership activities, our students know that when they get involved, they're happier and tend to manage their time better.

These groups range from Academic Organizations such as the Accounting Club, Honors Club, and Enactus to Special Interest Groups like Colleges Against Cancer and Habitat for Humanity--as well as Music and the Arts groups like the Drama Club, Jazz Ensemble, and Concert Choir.  With so many to choose from, there's no doubt you'll find a group that fits you!

Construction and improvements totaling more than $130 million have been completed over the past seven years.  These projects include: a Student Center, renovated Library, Regional Event Center, Alumni Plaza, and renovated residence halls and apartments.  SMSU has also invested in updating our science labs, computer labs and putting wireless internet into the residence halls.
