Hands gently cup scented
suds, rosewater oftentimes,
fingers softly slipping one
over the other to lather draw

upward to meet powdered skin,
blushed cheek, the lip-lined
mouth erased in circular
motion,

figments of a foregone youth
washed down the drain –
a nightly ritual of coming
clean,

tributaries tinctured by medium beige
and Cerise Kiss lay bare a reflection
of hazel eyes once reclined nude
on bridal sheets,

vestiges of innocence imbibing
hope as rivulets of time etch
their way onto her porcelain
landscape.
