Southwest Minnesota Orchestra to Present "Mozart Mania" on April 28

The final concert of the season for the Southwest Minnesota Orchestra will be “Mozart Mania” on Sunday, April 28, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall.

The concert features music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart including Concerto in G Major for Flute and Orchestra, K. 313 featuring soloist, SMSU Music major, Alec Ashby; and Sonata in E minor for Violin and Piano, K. 304 featuring guest violinist Risa Schuchter from Salzburg, Austria. Funding from the American-Austrian Foundation helped make this concert possible.

The program will also feature guest artists/faculty members from the St. Paul Conservatory of Music including Genie Meltzer, violin; Harris Bernstein, viola; Rachel Bottner, cello; Jasmine Chang, cello; Omar Macias, cello; and Brendon Bushman, oboe.  The St. Paul Conservatory of Music (SPCM) partnered with SMO to offer the first southwest Minnesota string festival, MinnSWest String Fest, for students ages 12-18 at Southwest Minnesota State University on Saturday, April 27. SPCM offers free online private music lessons on any instrument for students in grades pre-K–12 living in rural areas or attending a Title 1 school in Minnesota through the Music Across Minnesota grant program.

Tickets are $12 for adults at the door. Students $5. Families of 3 or more people are $25. Holy Redeemer Church is located at 503 W. Lyon St, Marshall, Minn.
