SMSU Charter Class Alumni Message to the Class of 2021
SMSU graduates will be participating in Commencement on Saturday, May 8. It is the University’s 53rd Commencement, and the 50th anniversary of Commencement for the Charter Class of 1971. Two charter class members — Mary Frandson, the University’s first Homecoming queen, and Jerry Bly — offer words of encouragement, and congratulations, to our 2021 graduates.
This year’s Commencement ceremony will look different than the traditional event, but we are excited that we will still be able to have a limited, in-person celebration. Due to restrictions on public gatherings, we will be sharing part of the traditional ceremony virtually. Each day during Commencement Week, we will share video links to speakers and other features that would normally be done in person. On Saturday, May 8, we will conduct the Conferral of Degrees in person.
