The Southwest Minnesota State University Music Program presents “Pairs and Doublings” a dedication recital for the new baby grand piano featuring Dr. Daniel Rieppel, SMSU Professor of Music and Director of Keyboard Studies. The recital is set for Monday, February 12, 2024 at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre at SMSU.

The new piano is a seven-foot Yamaha grand piano. Among the program’s existing inventory of grand pianos, all but one is more than 55 years old. Purchased with special funding from the SMSU Foundation that makes contributions to the academic experience thanks to support from generous donors. The new piano will enhance student learning and concert-goer experiences.

The recital will feature the music of Bach, Brahms, Chopin, Scriabin, and Rachmaninov. Admission is free with a free-will offering accepted to support keyboard studies at SMSU.
