As a parent and/or guardian, we know how important safety is to you when sending your student off to college. Please know that we have an exceptional staff at SMSU that work hard in our University Public Safety office to offer a secure campus for all students, faculty and staff.

Remind your student to sign up for SMSU Alert. SMSU Alert is the emergency notification text messaging system that is available on our campus. If an emergency should arise, a text message will be sent to the student's cell number and/or email address they provide on the sign up form. To sign up for this service, they must visit the following link:
