Meet Your Advisor

“Meet Your Advisor” is a program designed to introduce new SMSU students to their academic advisor. The program takes place during Gold Rush Days before the fall semester begins. During “Meet Your Advisor”, students are given the opportunity to learn more about the intricacies of their major and also meet other students in their major. All new students, both first-year and transfer, are strongly encouraged to attend this event as it establishes a foundation between students and their academic advisor that will be built on during their entire time here at SMSU.

“Meet Your Advisor” is held on the Friday of Gold Rush Days immediately following Convocation. Students will receive information from the Deeann Griebel Student Success Center prior to the event regarding their assigned academic advisor(s). During the transition from Convocation to “Meet Your Advisor”, students will be guided by academic program to the various locations around campus where the academic programs will meet with the students.
