An American House

By Lisa Nanni-Messegee and Todd Messegee

Fine Arts Theatre

A man walks on the moon, as family and friends join together to watch the momentous event on color television.  A ship transporting a fortune in gold sinks in a hurricane, dashing a family's financial dreams - but from that wreckage the importance of family ties emerge. A town anxiously awaits the return of a young hero at the end of a great and terrible war. Familial bonds, innovation, and patriotism are stretched across 150 years inside the walls of a single American house in the fictional town of Linden Falls, New York.  Over time, families move in and out of the home, but the house remains a symbol of perseverance as the country and its people continue to change through its nation's tragedies and triumphs.  An American House is a play for the ages and recaptures the nostalgic spark that Thornton Wilder ignited with his classic play "Our Town".

Authors Lisa Nanni-Messegee and Todd Messegee wrote the scipts for the Hallmark TV movies "Holiday for Heros", "Christmas Homecoming", and "Romantically Speaking".  In 2012, Lisa was a guest director for SMSU Theare's production of Alfred Hitchcock's "The 39 Steps".
