  • Instructions for On-Campus Freshmen:

    • Complete application for admission
    • Submit $20 non-refundable application fee
    • Submit scores from the ACT (code #2151) or the SAT (code #6703)
    • Send us an official high school transcript

    • Submit the $20 non-refundable application fee
    • FRESHMEN: Submit official high school transcript and ACT (code 2151) or SAT (code 6703) scores.
    • TRANSFER: Submit official college transcripts if transferring from a non-Minnesota State campus.  MN State transcripts can be retrieved electronically.
    • The SMSU Office of Admission or SMSU Extended Learning Office will contact you on the status of your application

If you would like to receive a hard copy of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report which contains this information, you can stop by the University Public Safety Office or you can request that a copy be mailed to you by calling (507)-537-7252.

The report(s) contain information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, fire safety, university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures and other matters of importance related to security and safety on campus. They also contain information about crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by SMSU; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.

This information is required by law and is provided by Southwest Minnesota State University.
