Upward Bound- Graduate Assistant

Educational Objectives:

-Participate in setting us IEP’s with Upward Bound students. Learn how to put a Policy/Procedure manual together, assist with tutoring and supervising tutors. Help plan a summer program for low income and first generation students.

 

Salary & Appointment:

-Position appointed on an annual basis for August-May. Annual stipend of $8,000 paid on a bi-weekly basis and a tuition waiver for SMSU graduate classes.

 

Qualifications:

-Experience working with diverse populations and high school age students is a high preference. Organized, articulate and team player. Good oral and written communication skills. Preference to an Education or similar major.

 

Responsibilities:

-Tutor high school age kids, help supervisor tutors, work with UB Admin. Assistant creating policy/procedures manual for UB. Help plan and organize a six-week summer program. Possible travel.

 

Clientele:

-Low income and first generation high school students from Marshall, YME, and Worthington High Schools.

 

Supervision:

-Amy Nemitz
-GA will assist supervising UB tutors and help overseeing activities of UB students.
