SMSU Co-Sponsoring the 2023 Juneteenth Events

SMSU is proud to co-sponsor the events planned for Juneteenth Freedom Day on Monday, June 19 across the city of Marshall.

Events include:

"Soul" Movie screening in the Marshall Lyon County Library Community Room from noon to 2:00 p.m.

Celebration in the Park at Independence Park from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Food from Taste of Soul, Moore Good Eats, and Lingen Dairy. Music, dancing, and drumming included in the entertainment line-up.

"Summer of Soul" Drive-In Movie on the Marshall Lyon County Library Lawn from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m.

Join us as we spend the day in reflection of how far we've come and how far we still need to go.

Collaborators and partners include: Southwest Minnesota State University's Office of Diversity and Inclusion and SMSU Athletics, Marshall-Lyon County Library, Visit Marshall, Sevita, The More Network of Southwest Minnesota, the City of Marshall Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Commission, Facilitating Racial Equity Collaborative (FREC), A Taste of Soul, Push Play Entertainment, Moore Good Eats, Purpose Artisans, and Titambe West African Dance Ensemble of Minnesota.
