SMSU to Co-host Interstate Oratorical Association Contest

The SMSU Forensics team will co-host the Interstate Oratorical Association Contest April 23-24.

The event, held since 1874, is being hosted by SMSU and the University of Minnesota. It will feature the top two persuasive speakers from each state in a competition to determine who is the best orator in the U.S.

The final competition round will be judged by several individuals, including State Auditor Julie Blaha, and former state representative Erin Maye Quade. It will include three preliminary rounds, a semifinal round, and a final round.

A documentary produced by SMSU students Mitchell Baker McGrath and Trevor Groebner will be shown at the event, describing notable pieces of Interstate history.
