Health Communication Certificate

The Communication Studies program has created a Health Communication certificate option for learners. Health Communication, as a field, typically emphasizes two areas:

  1. information/persuasive campaigns intended to change population behaviors toward more healthy choices
  2. improved interpersonal communication between providers and patients

The Health Communication Campaign certificate aims to provide experience in both areas of the field as an emphasis within an existing degree program.

Students going into public health benefit from this certificate on aspects of public relations, campaigns, and mass communication strategies.

Also, communication and marketing students receive a background in a specialized communication arena with different speciality that helps them develop a specialization.

Students can take the courses as part of the certificate live in-person, online synchronously via Zoom, or online asynchronously.

The time for completion of the certificate ranges on the number of courses a student takes. Typical completion is two semesters (three classes one semester, and two classes in another semester). Longest timeline for completion: five total semesters with one class per semester.
