Political Science Opportunities

College Democrats LogCollege Democrats

College Democrats promote the discussion of policy issues important on the local, state, and national level. The College Dems are also active in promoting Democratic and DFL candidates at every level.

We believe in the Democratic Party because time and time again, Democrats have fought for students and the progressive causes we care about. It was the Democratic Party that stood up for students when it came to financial aid. From President Franklin Roosevelt's G.I. Bill to Speaker Nancy Pelosi's College Cost and Reduction Act, Democrats have opened the doors of opportunity for millions of Americans to go to college.

College Republicans LogoCollege Republicans

The goal of the College Republicans is to promote Republican candidates, inform the campus of the Republican principles and candidate positions, and to make the SMSU community more politically aware. Membership is open to any interested students.

The mission of the College Republican National Committee (CRNC) is to recruit, train, mobilize, and engage college-aged students in all 50 states and the District of Columbia to win the battle of ideas and elections.  The CRNC serves as a voice for conservative students across the country, and provides them with the training and resources they need to succeed in winning future generations to the cause of the Republican Party and conservative movement.
