What is the Writing Center & Where is It?

The Writing Center assists students with their writing assignments. The Center is open during each class day and is located in the Academic Commons in IL 224.

How Does One Make an Appointment?

Students wishing to use the Writing Center should make an appointment by using the Writing Center's Online Scheduler. Click here to access the Online Scheduler.

What Should One Expect When Using the Writing Center?

When students come in for their Writing Center appointment, they will work with a Writing Consultant who will help them on an individual basis. Students are free to come in for help with a particular assignment or can work with the Writing Center staff on a continuing basis throughout the semester. Students taking courses from a distance who cannot come to campus can access online tutors by clicking on "Resources/Links" at the bottom of this page and choosing one of the online tutoring options listed there.

Who Works in the Writing Center?

The Writing Center consultants are mainly junior or senior English education majors while others come from a variety of disciplines. Students will be able to find someone to help them, regardless of their assignment or major.
Why Should One Use the Writing Center?

Faculty members encourage students with writing questions to utilize the Center. The Center is easy to find, open class days, and staffed by friendly, fellow students. Use of the Center is free of charge and confidential. If you have any writing difficulty, big or small, the Writing Center is here for you.

How Can Faculty Refer their Students to the Writing Center?

Faculty may refer their students to the Writing Center for help with their writing by completing a referral form and giving the form to their student or students. Click here to access a copy of that form.
