Requirements:  Successful candidates will be reliable, have a friendly demeanor, have meticulous attention to detail, comfortable working knowledge of computers and software, and a strong sense of customer service.  Excellent oral communication skills and the ability to work independently are necessary. Must possess a strong desire to serve others bias-free and maintain confidentiality. Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds repetitively and safely. Ability to tolerate walking and standing on hard surfaces for up to 5 hours at a time. Ability to bend, reach, and grasp food items. Knowledge of food safety procedures preferred.

Duties Performed

MUSTANG MARKET MAINTENANCE (30%)
  • Perform opening and closing duties as instructed.
  • Maintain constant cleanliness and sanitation of the market following food safety protocols. 
  • Ensure products are properly stocking, following first in, first out product rotation, before open and throughout open hours.
  • Assist with routine inventory counts and submit reports.
  • Carry out other store administrative tasks as directed by the Mustang Market Coordinator and Mustang Market Graduate Assistant.
  • Mark and sort donations.
  • Assist with organizing and putting away the order. 
CUSTOMER SERVICE (30%)
  • Provide friendly, knowledgeable information to shoppers concerning the Mustang Market
  • Provide knowledgeable information to shoppers, when requested, for all campus basic needs referral services not limited but including financial aid, mental health services, health services, student success, and campus dining.
  • Assist customers shopping at the Mustang Market.
  • Independently determine and initiate appropriate responses to customer requests.
  • Follow-up on requests to ensure they have been resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
DATA COLLECTION & RESEARCH (15%)
  • Process survey data weekly and update spreadsheet
  • Communicate data-driven needs for the Mustang Market to the Mustang Market Graduate Assistant
  • Assist various classes in student-lead research on the Mustang Market
PROMOTION & MARKETING (15%)
  • Distribute posters and advertisements for the Mustang Market throughout campus.
  • Assist Hunger Taskforce Committee with marketing for annual campus hunger awareness events. 
  • Attend tabling events to increase awareness of the Mustang Market services.
  • Create welcoming product displays in the Mustang Market.
  • Assist the Mustang Market Graduate Assistant with creation of advertisements.
OFFICE DUTIES (10%)

Fitness Center Supervisor

Duties Performed

The Marshall Area YMCA is seeking a member services staff to assist with achieving established membership goals and ensuring the overall delivery of excellent customer service to all members and guests. Member services staff are responsible for maintaining the welcome areas of the YMCA and greeting all members upon check in.  This is a flexible, part-time role with on-site expectations during the school year.

Mentor/Tutor

Duties Performed

The Program:  Upward Bound is a federally funded program that helps low-income, first-generation high school students prepare for post-secondary education. Tutors work with 15-20 students at Marshall High School during the school year, providing after-school tutoring in subjects like math, science, and English. The program also offers college preparation, mentorship, and career exploration opportunities.

Position Description:  The primary responsibility of the Upward Bound Tutor/Mentor is to support the academic success of students by helping improve their GPA and assessment scores throughout the school year through tutoring. Tutors will work with students individually or in small groups in various homework subjects. They will also collaborate with Upward Bound staff to identify areas where students need assistance to meet their academic goals. Tutoring sessions will take place in the Marshall High School library after school. Some academic counseling might occur. Possible travel opportunities.

Student Public Safety Security Officers assist in maintaining a safe and secure environment on campus for students, staff, faculty, and visitors. Their responsibilities include conducting routine foot patrols of buildings, parking areas, and campus grounds to deter and detect suspicious activity, as well as monitoring access to restricted areas to ensure compliance with campus safety policies. They respond promptly and professionally to incidents, disturbances, and emergency situations, while also reporting safety hazards, maintenance concerns, or unusual activity to Public Safety supervisors. Student officers provide courteous assistance and directions to campus visitors and community members and are expected to document incidents thoroughly by completing clear, accurate written reports. During campus events, they help with crowd control, access points, and traffic guidance. Additionally, they support Public Safety staff with administrative or operational duties as assigned. Youth Development Staff

  • Position requires a person with experience in working with younger children and leading activities.  Must be at least 18 years of age.  Person must have an energetic personality that reflects a love of children, can understand, and meet their wide variety of needs, and is creative and fun.  CPR and First Aid certifications are required (may be obtained upon being hired).
  • Incumbent must be able to move easily across a variety of indoor and outdoor terrain; participate in typical outdoor children’s games, sports, and activities; watch and listen to the activities of a group of children; lift up to 50 pounds; and spend up to eight hours per day outside in a variety of summer weather conditions.

Time Commitment: The  After School Program operates from approximately 3:15pm to 6:00pm on school days.  Child Watch operates on Monday – Saturday with both morning and afternoon sessions.
