  1. Return to Campus Fall 2021:

    What changes will be made in classrooms in the fall?

    1. Occupancy levels of classrooms will return to pre-COVID status
    2. Physical Distancing will not be required
    3. Plexiglass shields will be left in the classrooms for optional use
  2. Well Fitted Masks:

    • Well fitted Masks are required if the CDC COVID indicators for Lyon County are at substantial or high levels of transmission. All students, faculty, staff, vendors and members of the public are required to wear well fitted masks in indoor public spaces. Well fitted masks are not required inside residence hall student rooms, office spaces or in an office setting, cubicle or workstation where physical distancing can be maintained. Well fitted masks are not required outdoors.
    • Once cases begin to decline, a well fitted mask requirement may be lifted if Lyon County is in the "low" or "moderate" transmission level for 14 consecutive days.
  3. Domestic Travel:

    What restrictions are in place for domestic travel?

    1. Effective June 1, 2021, approval of university sponsored domestic travel requests by students, faculty or staff will be approved or not approved by the President. All travel will continue to be subject to adherence to guidance and local advisories.

  4. International Travel:

    What is the status of international travel?

    1. International travel is currently suspended.
    2. For the 2021 Fall Semester, you can continue to plan for future semester study abroad experiences and short–term study abroad trips. Changes to travel restriction will continue to be monitored and updates will be provided, if and when the international travel ban is modified or rescinded.

Q:

Do I need to wear a mask on campus at SMSU?

A:

Q:

Will vaccines be required for faculty and staff at SMSU?

A:

Effective September 8th, 2021 all faculty and staff will be required to provide proof of vaccination or submit to weekly COVID-19 testing. For more details view the State of Minnesota COVID-19 proof of vaccination and testing policy.

Q:

What if I was exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19?

A:

Faculty and Staff who have been exposed to a Covid-19 positive case or have tested positive should follow the guidelines for quarantine and isolation. They should contact their supervisor and the Human Resources office at 507-537-6812 or by email at HR@SMSU.edu. Human Resources can assist in determining if they need to quarantine or isolate.
