Southwest Minnesota State University is offering a Master of Science in Education with Reading emphasis. The reading emphasis is also available as a reading licensure if you are not looking for a full master's degree.
This emphasis allows students to add to their knowledge of teaching reading through research-based coursework. You can either earn the 15 credits in reading through the licensure option or take the core education courses in addition to the 15 reading emphasis credits for a master's degree. This two-year program is offered fully online.
The five reading courses will be offered COMPLETELY ONLINE. All education courses are offered online during the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
MASTER’S DEGREE CURRICULUM

ED 625: 21st Century Brain-Based Teaching and Learning - 3 cr.
ED 632: Linking Pedagogy and Content - 3 cr.
ED 635: Content & Curriculum Development - 3 cr.
ED 622: Research in Education - 3 cr.

ED 627: Research Project Implementation - 2 cr.
Total: 19 Credits
PROFESSIONAL FIELD EMPHASIS IN READING (15 Credits)

ED 551: Differentiated Reading Instruction - 3cr.
