The School of Graduate Studies functions as a college within the University. The Graduate Program staff maintains all academic records and oversees the academic process of all graduate students. Once a student has been accepted to the graduate program at SMSU, the School of Graduate Studies works with the academic department to ensure completion of the necessary course work for degree completion. The School of Graduate Studies also oversees the academic graduation of the student, the conferring of degrees, and the commencement and hooding ceremony
Students work with the School of Graduate Studies when making changes to their degree program, such as advisor changes and petitions.
