Learning Disabilities Licensure

The Southwest Minnesota State University Learning Disabilities courses are accessible in an on-line format. This program prepares candidates to work with students having specific learning disabilities or related learning difficulties such as perceptual disabilities, brain injury, dyslexia, and developmental aphasia. Candidates will be prepared to work with students in the mild-to-serve range of disability between the ages of kindergarten and age 21. The courses are available to individuals who hold a MN teaching license seeking an anchor or additional license in Learning Disabilities. All Minnesota teaching license requirements must be met to be eligible for the LD license.

Upon application to the program, transcripts will be reviewed and evaluated to ensure the Special Education Core courses and the required reading courses have been taken.

This program will facilitate the current needs of teachers seeking licensure or certification in the area of Learning Disabilities.
