All Student Advising Day

All Student Advising Day will be taking place on Wednesday, October 27th for students to meet with their academic advisors to make a plan for their spring 2022 and summer 2022 courses. Please note that classes that meet on October 27th prior to 5pm are cancelled.

For more information on how and when students and academic advisors will be meeting, please see below:

AGRICULTURE, CULINOLOGY AND HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT

Agribusiness Management, Ag Solutions, BAS in Agriculture

*Dr. Sang Jung – will use email to send an electronic software sign-up tool for students to sign up for advising appointments. Virtual advising (Zoom) will take place between 10:30am-12pm & 1:30-3pm on October 26th and 9am-4pm on October 27th.

*Dr. Toland – will use email to send an electronic software sign-up tool for students to schedule their advising appointments. Virtual advising (Zoom) and face-to-face advising (ST101) will take place between 8:30 am and 4:50 pm on October 27th.

*Dr. Steve Davis – will use email to send a “SignUp Genius” link for students to sign up for virtual advising appointments via Zoom between 8:30am -3:20pm on October 27th

Agronomy

*Dr. Adam Alford – will use email to send an electronic software sign-up tool for students to sign up for virtual advising appointments using Zoom between 8:30am-5pm on October 27th

Agricultural Education, Ag Communication & Leadership

*Dr. Kristin Kovar – will use email to send an electronic software sign-up tool for students to sign up for advising appointments. Virtual advising (Zoom) and face-to-face advising (ST159) will take place on October 25th, October 26th and October 27th

Culinology & Hospitality Management

*Dr. Joyce Hwang – will use email to send an electronic software sign-up tool for students to sign up for advising appointments. Virtual advising (Zoom) and face-to-face advising (IL113) will take place from 9am-5pm October 27th

*Dr. Yumi Lim – will use email to send an electronic software sign-up tool for students to sign up for advising appointments. Virtual advising (Zoom) and face-to-face advising (IL114) will take place from 9am-5pm on October 27th

 

BUSINESS INNOVATION AND STRATEGY

*Accounting – Advisors will notify students on how to sign up for an advising time

*Finance – Advisors will notify students on how to sign up for an advising time

*Pre-Business – Advisors will notify students on how to sign up for an advising time

*Management – Advisors will notify students on how to sign up for an advising time

*Marketing – Advisors will notify students on how to sign up for an advising time

EDUCATION

*Education - The School of Education will be offering both in-person and online advising – via Zoom or Teams and written (email) communication. Faculty will email their advisees directly regarding scheduling sessions; majority will sign up via shared doc or Microsoft Bookings.

*Teacher candidates/students should have a proposed schedule, Graduation Plan/Education Timeline, and access to the DARS for the advising session

ENGLISH PHILOSOPHY, SPANISH AND HUMANITIES 

*English with Creative Writing or Literature– students should email academic advisor to set up a Zoom meeting for October 27th

*Communication/English/Speech Education or Pre-Communication/English/Speech Education– students should email academic advisor to set up a Zoom meeting for October 27th

*Philosophy – students should email academic advisor to set up a Zoom meeting for October 27th

*Professional Writing – advisors will contact students to set up Zoom meetings for October 27th

MATHEMATICS AND COMPUTER SCIENCE

*Math & Computer Science – Students MUST contact their advisor to make arrangements for individual advising sessions

SCIENCE

*Students should make arrangements to meet with their academic advisor either in person or via Zoom.

FINE ARTS AND COMMUNICATION

*Art – Advisors will reach out via email to schedule either in-person or Zoom meetings with advisees

*Communication Studies – Advisors will be reaching out to advisees with information about setting up Zoom or in-person appointments prior to advising day.  If students have questions, they can email a faculty member in the program

*Music – Dr. Ginocchio will post a sign-up sheet on his office door (FA 124) to schedule meetings with advisees either in-person or over Zoom (student choice)

*Music – Dr. Kingsbury will reach out via email to schedule a Zoom meeting with advisees

*Music – Dr. Rieppel will reach out via email to schedule a Zoom meeting with advisees

*Theatre – Advisors will reach out via email to schedule an appointment either via Zoom or in-person (socially distanced)

SOCIAL SCIENCE

*History – Advisors will email students to set up Zoom appointments

*Justice Administration – Advisors will send out a sign-up sheet for virtual meeting times Justice will hold group advising with two different sessions to choose from. We will hold informational sessions at 10 a.m. & 12 p.m. where we will explain how to use the U-achieve graduation planner software and give general announcements regarding class offerings for spring and summer. After each brief presentation Amanda and BC will be available to answer individual questions and go over classes.  If neither one of these group sessions works for you, let us know or stop by anytime between 10-2. We will start Zoom for students who cannot come to campus to make sure that they also can get this information. The sessions will also be on Zoom at: https://minnstate.zoom.us/my/amandasieling and we will be available for individual consultation that way as well.

*Psychology – Advisors will contact advisees and set up individual meeting times.

*Social Work – SS205 or Zoom: October 27th from 10-11am for freshmen & sophomores, October 27th from 11am-12pm for juniors & seniors (contact your advisor for Zoom link)

*Sociology – Advisors will email students to set up Zoom appointments

UNDECLARED & LIBERAL ARTS

*Kaitlyn Giles – will email students to set up in-person, phone, or Zoom meetings using Bookings starting October 4th (https://outlook.office365.com/owa/calendar/StudentSuccessAdvisingCenter@MinnState.edu/bookings/)
