Testimonials
What SMSU RN to BSN Program students have to say about their experience with the program!
I have always felt like a name and not a number. Multiple staff members have checked on me and helped me through challenging times. I have always felt like staff wanted me to succeed. I would recommend the program because of the flexibility, affordability, small-town feel and rural nursing focus. Also, because of the very personal feeling.
People at SMSU are always available to answer questions, friendly, respond in a timely manner to any questions you may have. I would recommend the program because it's all online, reasonable tuition, and friendly instructors. The program courses are applicable to current nursing practice because the BSN is more research based off previously learned knowledge.
I chose the SMSU RN to BSN Program because I have a strong interest in public health as it pertains to rural health. I appreciate that SMSU is a University within a rural community and was hopeful that attending SMSU would give me valuable education that would support my interest in rural health. I am an RN in an urban area though with an interest in global/rural health. The BSN courses address all of these populations! What I enjoy most about the program is the individual attention from the program. As a working professional I appreciate being informed and supported on a regular and ongoing basis. I would absolutely recommend SMSU to other RN's.
The program has well supportive staff especially Stella Nwachukwu, advisor and Dr. Laurie Johanson, Department Chair. I would recommend the program because it's a nice program, flexible, and has supportive staff, in addition to accommodating working student parents. The program courses are applicable to current nursing practice because the program is very relevant with my work duties and responsibilities. It has boosted my knowledge especially in the field of public health nursing, nurse research, cultural competency, rural nursing, and evidence based practices.
I chose the SMSU RN to BSN Program because it fit what I was looking for in a BSN program. I wanted to be in a program where I was able to learn what I needed to learn, but also not feel like I was a number at a school. I feel as though SMSU knows their students and it shows. I would recommend the program because SMSU is a school that treats you like a person, and not just a number. I love that we get little cards in the mail from time to time telling us how they appreciate us. They know we are students and nurses and treat us as such. What I enjoy most about the program is the fact that the staff know the students. They are open to questions and email you back within hours instead of days.
I chose SMSU because from the start I felt welcomed and supported. The process of applying and transferring of my previous college coursework was seamless. I have and will continue to recommend the SMSU RN to BSN program to other RN's because I have been pleased with every aspect of the program. If I were to do it again, I wouldn't change a thing. I am very appreciative of my experience in the SMSU RN to BSN program. I would like to thank the fabulous SMSU nursing faculty for their support and encouragement throughout my time at SMSU.
I chose SMSU because the website was easy to navigate and I found the information I was looking for right away. I sent an email requesting information about the program and was responded to immediately! Everyone has been so helpful with any questions that I have had along the way. Even after hours, emails are answered and I am able to call with questions.
I was supported by SMSU before I even finished my ADN program or passed my boards. SMSU made me feel important and valued and not like I was just another student. SMSU has been great at reaching out and making sure that I am doing well and have the resources that I need to excel.
I personally spoke with Stella, and she was absolutely wonderful. She was so caring and compassionate and truly wanted to understand how I wanted to approach the program. I was so scared it was going to consume my life and I was afraid of failure. Stella made sure to explain every single detail to me and made me a schedule of the courses I needed. Her and I were able to come up with a plan that was going to work for me and my family. The SMSU RN to BSN program has a family and work/life balance. The courses are guided towards busy, everyday life. The professors are amazing and accommodating to all their students. The content for the courses is resourceful, well thought, and appropriate. It will help any RN on their transition to BSN.
If you are considering an RN to BSN program SMSU is the place to go. The quality education and personalized attention is more than I could ever have expected. Though the classes are all online, I felt like I knew my instructors and they knew me. Having rural nursing classes was something I never imagined. I am so proud of SMSU for incorporating these courses into the curriculum. Rural healthcare is often overlooked and misunderstood. As a rural college I am excited to see that SMSU is promoting rural nursing.
