Helpful Information to be Successful in Summer Courses

To view course details, log into eServices

Follow These Steps:

  • Courses and Registration
  • Search for a Course
  • Add the course to your WishList
  • Review My plan to Register

Make note of important dates associated with the course

  • Start date, drop dates with a refund

What is the delivery method of the course?

  • On-campus, online-only, or online with dates; you must be on campus or online, but you are required to log on at certain times.

Sign in to eServices & click on Bills and Payments:

  • Check to see if you are meeting the minimum payment criteria for summer
    • FAFSA on file
    • $300 payment

Using your SMSU e-mail Account & D2L Brightspace

Access Your WebMail

Log-in: SMSU Webmail
All students must use their SMSU e-mail in order to:

  • Communicate with faculty before the start date of the course
  • Be notified of course changes
  • Access D2L Brightspace (Course management system)
  • Receive correspondence from other SMSU student services

Log in to D2L Brightspace

D2L Brightspace is the course management system used by all Minnesota State Schools. All web-based classes are delivered to students through D2L Brightspace. Many on-campus courses also use D2L Brightspace to deliver your course syllabus, lectures, discussions, chat, and quizzes.

  • Log in to SMSU D2L Brightspace by using your StarID and StarID password
     
  • Typically, D2L Brightspace course information can be viewed one week before the course start date. This will give you more time to review the course and determine whether it fits your summer schedule. Online courses typically require at least as much (if not more) time as face-to-face courses. Daily attention to the course is recommended.
  • If you decide not to stay in the course, it is your responsibility to drop it before the 2nd day of the course. If you fail to drop the course, you will be charged full tuition and fees.
