Step 5: Attend the Mandatory International Student Orientation

Once you have arrived at SMSU, you must attend the Mandatory International Student Orientation (MISO). All new international students are required to participate in the MISO program. The SPRING 2024 MISO will begin Wednesday, January 3rd, 2024 through the rest of that week.  This program is mandatory for ALL new international exchange students, graduates, undergraduates, and transfer students regardless if you are arriving in the U.S. for the first time or if you transferred from another U.S. school.

At this orientation, you will:

  • Complete the Mandatory Visa Check-In required by the US Federal Government
  • Obtain your Mustang ID card
  • Access Your Student Accounts
  • Learn about Health Services and the required Health Insurance
  • Take the English & Math Placement Exams
  • Pay the Minimum $3,000 Required to Enroll
  • Meet with your Advisor & Enroll for Your Classes
  • Among other Important Matters

Please review the Mandatory International Student Orientation & Arrival Information here and arrive 1-2 days before it begins.

Travel Safely and See You at MISO (Mandatory International Student Orientation)!

Note:

If you miss this orientation and cannot enroll at SMSU, your SEVIS I-20 will be Terminated.  This will have a negative impact on your visa status and can cause complications such as removal, deportation, and future denials of entry to the U.S.  Please contact CIE at cie@smsu.edu if you have any questions about this.
