Information Literacy Rubric

Classrooms

The Library has two electronic classrooms, one with 32 pcs (BA314) and a smaller one with 16 (BA319). They are open labs unless reserved for classes. The smaller classroom has a SmartBoard and the larger classroom has an electronic projection system. Both rooms have video/dvd components. Use campus Scheduling to reserve either of these rooms. The Conference Room (BA 524) is also presentation-ready and may be reserved through the Scheduling office.

Reserves

If you bring library books, your own books, or photocopies of readings to the circulation desk and fill out a form for each item indicating what it is and what loan period you think is appropriate, the library staff will process them as soon as possible. Please allow for as much lead time as possible. All items are kept behind the circulation desk. Contact Liz Fladhammer (x6158) for more information.

Showing Videos or Other Media to a Class

The library has mobile carts that may be reserved for you to take to your classroom. We are unable to deliver carts. Contact the Circulation Desk (x7278) for more information.

Recommending Books, Journals or Media for the collection

Faculty may make book recommendations by sending an email to Mara Wiggins.
The librarians generally review journal holdings yearly. Because of the ongoing subscription costs, additions are quite restricted.

Obtaining Research Materials

Working through MINITEX, a regional consortium, SMSU has a very effective Interlibrary Loan Service and faculty and students are able to borrow materials from the University of Minnesota libraries and from other institutions around the country. Articles are generally scanned and delivered electronically via an email link. Books are delivered to the library by courier. For more information contact Conni Stensrud (x6127) or Maria Kingsbury (x6165).
