International Student Organization
Southwest Minnesota State University is the melting point of many cultures and origins, represented by various countries around the globe. The International Students Organization, better known as the ISO, helps the international students get acclimated to the new environment when they first step into the United States.
The International Students Organization was started in 1979. The purpose of this organization is to promote international understanding, goodwill and interaction between international and American students. It promotes unity and welfare of the students and helps them to achieve their academic goals.
ISO is an entirely student run organization that is open to any and all SMSU students. ISO does a wide variety of programming for SMSU students including our annual International Food Festival, International Art Festival, cultural nights based on various regions around the world, sponsoring tournaments such as soccer and table tennis, and providing an outlet for international culture and world view to be shared with the SMSU community.
