Other Resources

See how other SMSU sources can help with your writing.

  • ENG 251 Online Textbook – This online textbook can help you with writing specifically for your future profession or career.
  • Research Help Desk – McFarland Library’s Research Help Desk is a great place to start if you’re having trouble finding sources for your papers. Come to this one-on-one consultation with an idea of some sources, and the librarian will also come with some source options.
  • Databases – As an SMSU student, you have access to a wide number of databases; therefore, you have access to a vast number of potential academic sources for free.
  • Books —The McFarland Library houses countless books in addition to the database articles. Browse the shelves in person or online first.
  • Interlibrary loan —If you find a book or article that sounds helpful for a paper you are working on, but SMSU doesn’t own a copy of it, you may be able to still receive a copy of that work for a period of time! Interlibrary loan allows you to borrow those resources from other libraries.
  • Deeann Griebel Student Success Center – The recently renamed Student Success and Advising Center is home to other tutoring support on the SMSU campus. If you are needing help in a course unrelated to writing, this is where you can find that help.
