How to Help Students Write Effectively

To help your students with their writing, an effective start would be to mention the Writing Center on your class syllabus, to recommend a visit for different writing assignments, or to offer extra credit for students who do visit. If you would like to include the Writing Center on your D2L course homepage, a flier detailing our services can be found at the bottom of this page.

When directing specific students to the Writing Center, we recommend you tell them to select your email address when prompted on the appointment form. This will ensure that you receive a copy of their client report form to know what was worked on during the appointment.

Please encourage students to utilize the Writing Center’s services earlier on in the writing process so that we have adequate time to aid them in the process.
