Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Service for Chemical Industries

Research/Quality Control Opportunity

Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) has a solution-state, high-resolution, 300 MHz, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectrometer with a dual proton (1H) and carbon-13 (13C) probe. We are offering an NMR service to companies interested in utilizing this technology for quality control and product development.

Applications for Industry

NMR is used to determine molecular structures and purity in several important fields, including medical, pharmaceutical, agrochemical, food science, organic, and biochemical industries. With our service, you can incorporate NMR in your product development and quality control as well.

Available Services

We can offer several NMR services to best suit the needs of your research/development:

1. Researchers can mail compounds (about 60 mg each; solid or liquid) to us. Our NMR spectroscopist will prepare and run the samples, and then email the spectra back to you.

2. Or we can email the raw NMR data to you. You then purchase the software from the manufacturer and have your researchers process their own spectra.

3. We can also provide you with directions to have your researchers prepare the NMR samples. You can then mail us the prepared samples to run.

4. Finally, our NMR spectroscopist can prepare a final report that outlines the results of your analyses.
