The SMSU School of Education is an accredited teacher preparation provider by the MN Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board through 2030.

AAQEP Accreditation 

Southwest Minnesota State University is a member in good standing of the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP), a national accrediting organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. AAQEP accreditation affirms that a program prepares effective educators who continue to grow as professionals and that the program has demonstrated the commitment and capacity to maintain quality. AAQEP has awarded 7-year accreditation to the teacher licensure programs listed on the School of Education Education Programs webpage, which must host their next site visit prior to December 31, 2032 to maintain accreditation.
