Alternate Testing

Initial Process

Students requesting alternative testing services must have supporting documentation on file in Accessibility Services indicating a need for testing accommodations.  Testing accommodations may include extended time, quiet room, test scribe, test reader, computer use, etc. 

Students requesting alternative testing accommodations must have supporting documentation on file in Accessibility Services and be registered with Accessibility Services.

  1. Students must request Alternative Testing accommodations with the Testing Accommodation form
  2. Students must contact Accessibility Services each semester to request exam accommodations.
  3. A notification letter will be sent to instructors once the request is received and supported by Accessibility Services.

In-Person Exam Scheduling Process

  1. In-person exams can be scheduled by emailing accessibilityservices@smsu.edu , at least three days prior to the exam date. Online exams can use the same process.
  2. Students must complete the Testing Accommodation form and return to Accessibility Services via email or in person.
  3. Tests are administered in Accessibility Services department M – F 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Night class tests must be taken between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.; preferably on the test day unless another day is approved by the professor.

Please request any Testing Accommodations, including extended time, by filling out the Testing Accommodation form.

Academic Integrity

Phones, watches, and materials not explicitly allowed during your exam are not permitted in the testing spaces.  Students will be asked to keep all items outside of the testing space in a designated area.  If it found that you used unpermitted items during your exam, your exam will be ended and we will immediately notify your instructor.
