Early Childhood Special Education
Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE):
The Early Childhood Special Education program equips you to work with families and their infants, toddlers, and preschool children with disabilities. The ECSE educator is prepared to work with families in their homes and with the children in a center-based program. Upon completion of the program, you will have the knowledge, skills and supports necessary to be effective in your respective role in order to increase the probability that young children with disabilities and their families achieve positive outcomes.
This program is for aspiring educators seeking an initial teaching license at the Graduate level. The courses are available to individuals who are seeking a MN teaching license in the area of Early Childhood Special Education. The license can be earned as a non-degree seeking option or as part of a Master of Science: Special Education degree. Upon application to the program, transcripts will be reviewed and evaluated to ensure the Special Education Core courses and the required reading courses have been taken.
For more information on the curriculum please check out the course descriptions located in the academic catalog.
For further insight into when courses are available and suggested to be taken, please check the Early Childhood Special Education Licensure.
