Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Counseling
Do you have questions or concerns about being on academic warning, suspension, or probation? Please stop by the Deeann Griebel Student Success Center (IL 224) if you’re on-campus, or call (507) 537-6484 for more information about SMSU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy. We will work with you individually to discuss strategies and resources that can help you get back on track to achieving academic success.
During an SAP Counseling appointment, we will review your SMSU transcripts and SAP criteria (cumulative completion rate and cumulative GPA) and align this information with your academic standing (academic warning, suspension, or probation) and your student classification (number of attempted credits). We’ll discuss what has been going well for you as well as areas that you want to improve and make a plan to help you achieve your academic goals.
All students on academic warning or academic probation during the fall and/or spring semesters will also have access to a D2L course to support them through the SAP process.
Your success is our mission, and we want to ensure that you have the necessary SAP knowledge and the resources available to you as a Mustang to best position you for success.
To schedule an SAP Counseling appointment, please contact Brittany Krull, Director of Student Success, by phone at (507) 537-7290 or by email at Brittany.Krull@SMSU.edu.
