Our Services

The SMSU Office of Communications and Marketing is responsible for communications, public relations, promotions, and marketing on behalf of the University through the distribution of information in a variety of formats. Click the "Contact Information" tab in the menu to connect with one of our staff members.

We are rolling out a new process for submitting requests to our office. Requests will be accepted using the forms published here. Once submitted, someone on our team will contact you. Incomplete information will delay turnaround time. Due to our staffing limitations, not all submitted requests can be honored.

Project Request

Any new design request or revision of an existing file. Please allow adequate time and provide as much information as possible.

Includes events and group photos. Individual headshots can be scheduled using the "Headshot Bookings" form.

Billboard Request

SMSU has space on the billboard by Perkins Restaurant. Requests are reviewed and subject to approval, and not all requests can be honored.

Our office keeps a small inventory of promotional items on hand. If you are looking for larger quantities (over 100 pieces), contact communications@SMSU.edu for custom orders.

Event Calendar

If your event is NOT part of a Scheduling reservation, you may submit it here.

Event reservations appear on the public calendar at https://calendar.smsu.edu/. Provide as much information as possible at the time of your booking: the start and end times of the event. Set-up times and staging rooms should be private. The title should clearly describe the event. Include a contact person.

Video Request

Video production will resume when we are at full staffing capacity.

Digital Signage Request

For information on the campus-wide digital signage system. Size for submitted graphics: 2560x1440 pixels, JPG. For requests that require graphic design, allow adequate time. Not all requests can be honored.

SMSU Today.
Don’t miss another important announcement! SMSUToday is online at www.smsu.edu/today (make it your homepage) and on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We accept submissions to post SMSU Info announcements here. Use the online, self-submit SMSU Info to find the "Submit SMSU Info" icon at the top of the page.

Radio shows.
Tuesdays 10:10-10:30 a.m., with KMHL-AM, 1400 AM, Marshall. The radio show is our way to connect with the region. With the show, we introduce members of our Mustang Family to the public, promote events, highlight academics, or discuss campus programming. Subscribe to our podcast featuring the weekly radio show: https://podcast.smsu.edu/. The KMHL show is archived on Soundcloud and is available to listen to here.

Event Publicity.
PUBLICITY REQUEST. Use our project request form. Services for supporting & promoting activities, achievements, and events. We can help from idea to finish. Our event services include News Releases, Feature Stories, Publicity materials (posters, programs and other print materials), Online outlets (SMSU Today Web/Facebook/Twitter), Calendar postings, Digital Signage, and other digital outlets as applicable. Advance notice is important. It is essential to have publicity in front of the public at least two weeks before an event.

Photos.
Photography services for events and other needs. Contact us with your request.

SMSU Logos.
All official SMSU Logos are licensed. Standards and guidelines for logos, signage, apparel, style, etc. Contact us for LICENSING INFORMATION and SUPPORT. We can help with your promotional project from inception to completion. Includes all branded items, apparel, promotional items, fundraising items for clubs, residence halls, etc. If it has the SMSU name or logo, please get in touch with us.

Publications.
SMSU Pocket Fact Books are available. Considering bringing them with to give away when speaking off-campus.

Social Media Guidelines.
We have developed guidelines to assist you in setting up and using social media for your program or department. Click the "Social Media" tab in the menu. Call our office with any questions.

Share your news.
Faculty, staff, students and alumni achievements. Are you blogging, podcasting, planning an event, or completing a community service project? Tell us about it, and we’ll share it! 

Focus.
Focus is the magazine for SMSU alumni and friends. Our office coordinates, plans, and produces it. Please share your story ideas with us. Alumni love to hear about what is happening on campus. For the archive of digital magazines, visit the "Focus" tab in the menu.

Business Cards, Name Tags, Door Plates.
Order forms for business cards, name tags, and door plates are available. See the "Order Forms" tab in the menu.

Templates.
PowerPoint templates and Word doc templates are all on our web page.  See "Templates" tab in the menu.
